We create one-of-a-kind cakes for all your important life events, including showers, weddings, special birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and more. We pride ourselves on creating cakes that taste as good as they look, because everything, even our fondant, is made from scratch using the best ingredients we can find.
It’s never too early to book your custom-designed cake. Ordering at least a month ahead is ideal; wedding cakes at least 6 months in advance. Please know we limit the number of custom cake orders we fulfill each weekend, so some weekends may be sold out, especially during wedding season which runs May through October. Prices vary based on design and size.

Enjoy our cakes responsibly. For maximum flavor and ideal texture, let chilled cakes come to room temperature for at least 3 to 5 hours before serving. Store at room temperature for up to 3 days. Need to store it longer? Refrigerate it.
*If your cake has pastry cream, whipped cream, or cream cheese, please keep it refrigerated.
We make American and Hungarian style cakes covered in buttercream and fondant. There are endless flavors of cakes and filling and frosting combinations (see Flavors & Options above). Prices vary widely based on design and size, starting at $150.
Each cake is custom-designed to fit your every wish. We can make suggestions, show you photos of custom cakes we’ve created, work with your fabric or paper samples or make your own vision come to life.
Our cakes do travel. We’ve been known to deliver them to locations up to 2 hours away! Delivery charges start at $35.00 for Ann Arbor. Other areas beyond start at $2.25 per mile.

It’s ideal to have all the decision makers there, but our space is limited. We can best accommodate 2 people—think the happy couple or whoever is paying for the cake! If you need to bring more, please let us know so we can plan ahead.
It’s never too early to book your custom-designed cake.
For smaller cakes one month in advance is often early enough. If your event is during wedding season (May-October) please get in touch as soon as you know you’d like a cake from us. We book up! Other busy cake holidays to consider are Easter, Mother’s Day, Christmas, and University of Michigan Commencement. If your event is during one of these weeks, get in touch as soon as the thought pops into your mind.
For wedding cakes it is best to start planning at least six months in advance and we’re happy to meet with you a year in advance. (We’ve done a few emergency cakes on a week’s notice though so if that’s you give us a call and if we can make it happen we will.)
Yes, we do ask for a 25% deposit to reserve your cake.
We’ll send you home from your consultation with a free box of sample slices so you can taste a variety of cake/filling combos. Big family? Just can’t decide? Additional sample boxes are $20 each.
With enough notice, we can bake vegan, wheat free, dairy free, or egg free cakes (for custom cake orders only; not available through the Bakeshop). We do not currently have a sugar free cake to offer.
Sorry, we do not make styrofoam cakes for display.
At the Cake Studio, we also make custom-designed groom’s cakes and decorated cookie favors. For unforgettable showers, rehearsal dinners, and receptions, try Zingerman’s Cornman Farms, Zingerman’s Catering & Events or Zingerman’s Roadhouse. They all offer on-site event space or off-site catering.
Custom Cookies
We offer custom designed and decorated cookies that make great wedding and party favors! Our vanilla and citrus butter cookies come decorated with fondant or royal icing. Each one is neatly presented in a clear cellophane bag. We’ll work with you on shape, color, and design to match your theme.
